Sour Cream Cake

Ingredients are for 1 Cake.

Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas Mark 4

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar.

Add the well beaten eggs, vanilla and sour cream to the shortening and sugar mixture.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well.

Pour into a greased 8 inch cake pan.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Tested and True
If you have stained plates and dishes, soak them in a mixture of baking soda and hot water. Let them stand overnight, then rub with a moist cloth dipped in salt. Wash and dry as usual.
