Kolache Dough

Ingredients are for 6 Servings.

Additional Info:

This dough should set up in the refrigerator over night.

Directions:

Before baking, preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas Mark 4

Sift the flour and sugar together.

Reserve 1/2 cup of flour and sugar mixture, for rolling the dough later.

To the remaining flour-sugar mixture, work in the butter, cream cheese and egg yolk.

Knead together, shape into a ball.

Wrap in plastic wrap and let stand overnight in refrigerator.

The next day, roll out thin on a board, sprinkled with the reserved flour and sugar mixture.

Cut into squares.

You can fill this pastry dough with many different jams or sweet fillings of your choice.

When ready, bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly golden.

To keep the Kolache authentic, we suggest walnuts, prunes, poppy seeds or apricot preserves for the filling.
