Don't throw pasta up against the wall to see if it's cooked. This is a myth and makes the wall really hard to clean. Pasta is al dente when it starts to float in the boiling water.
Fruit Kolache Filling

Ingredients are for 6 Dozens.

2 cups

1/2 cup
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
Directions:
- Peel, core and finely chop the apples.

In a heavy saucepan, over medium high heat, add the apples, raisins and brown sugar.

Cook until the apples start to soften, about 15 minutes.

Add water, salt and cinnamon.

Cook an additional 15 minutes, or until the filling thickens.

Remove from heat and cool before using.

When ready to use, spoon about 1/2 teaspoonful of filling for each square of Kolache dough.

Before grilling; take a handful of hickory chips and soak them in water for an hour or so. Add a few at a time to the barbecue coals for an enhanced smoke flavor in your food.
