Don't throw pasta up against the wall to see if it's cooked. This is a myth and makes the wall really hard to clean. Pasta is al dente when it starts to float in the boiling water.
Christmas Eggnog

Ingredients are for 24 Servings.

10 large
1 3/4 cups
4 cups
1/2 pint
1/2 cup
1/4 cup
1/2 teaspoon
1 dash
Directions:
Separate the eggs and set the egg whites aside.

Combine egg yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler; whisk until the sugar is dissolved.

Gradually whisk in the scalded milk.

Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture coats the back of a spoon.

Remove from heat; chill well.

In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.

Fold the egg whites and whipped cream into the chilled custard mixture.

Stir in the brandy, rum and vanilla.

Chill for several hours.

When serving; sprinkle with a pinch of ground nutmeg.
