Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas Mark 4
These crescents are known as Mandel-halbmonde in German cuisine.
Beat together butter and sugar until very light and fluffy.
Blend in almond extract and vanilla extract. Mix in flour and ground almonds.
Using about 1 tablespoon of dough for each, shape into logs and bend into crescent shapes.
Place on greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes until light brown.
Remove from oven and while still warm, roll crescents in icing sugar.
Cool on racks and store in a tightly sealed container.
