Lemon Beebrush Bread

This bread freezes well. Warm it a little after defrosting to awaken the lemon flavors.

Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups All-purpose Flour
1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 cups Sugar
3/4 cup Butter » softened
3 large Eggs
1/2 cup Buttermilk
1/2 cup Sour Cream
1 tablespoon Lemon Zest
2 teaspoons Lemon Beebrush » finely chopped
1 tablespoon Lemon Beebrush Syrup
Prep Time Process Time Overall Time
30 Minutes 1 Hour 30 Minutes 2 hours
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas Mark 4

1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

2. Add softened butter and mix with a fork until flour mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3. In a medium-size mixing bowl, mix together eggs, buttermilk, sour cream, lemon zest and lemon beebrush.

4. Add to flour mixture and mix just until batter comes together.

5. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 inch loaf pan and bake about 1-1/2 hours.

6. It is finished when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Turn the bread out onto a cooling rack, and prick the top with a fork.

8. Drizzle with Lemon Beebrush Syrup, a little at a time, as the bread cools.

9. It will absorb the syrup.

10. Serve warm or cold.
