1. Cut onions very thin.
2. Add to a large bowl and sprinkle with table salt.
3. Add vegetable oil, flour, baking soda, water and eggs.
4. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all of the ingredients.
5. Turn out onto a floured board.
6. Sprinkle generously with the poppy seeds.
7. Roll out very thin, but evenly.
8. If the dough is too loose, dust with additional flour.
9. Cut into rounds or squares.
10. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
