- Dissolve the Baker's Ammonia in the boiling water.
- Make sure it is completely dissolved before using. Set aside.
1. In a bowl mix together sugar, salt, shortening, eggs, and milk until sugar is dissolved.
2. Add vanilla and anise seeds.
3. Add the Baker's Ammonia mixture to sugar mixture.
4. Add enough flour to the sugar mixture to stiffen and not sticky. It may require 2 to 3 pounds.
5. Roll out dough on floured surface, and cut with cookie cutters.
6. Bake immediately after mixing in a moderate, preheated 350°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
