Prickly Pear Ice Cream

10 whole Prickly Pears » peeled
1 gallon Milk

30 Minutes 40 Minutes 1 hour 10 minutes
Directions:

1. Peel the prickly pears of all the skin and thorns. You can leave the seeds in for texture or remove them for a smoother ice cream.

2. Mash the peeled prickly pears using a fork or blend them slightly to break them down.

3. In a large bowl, combine the mashed prickly pear fruit with 1 gallon of milk.

4. Stir the mixture until both ingredients are well incorporated.

5. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. This process usually takes about 20-40 minutes depending on the machine.

6. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into the container and place it directly in the freezer.

7. Stir the mixture every hour during the first few hours of freezing to break up ice crystals for a smoother texture. This can take up to 10 hours.

8. Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly before serving.
