Ingredients are for 70 Cookies.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas Mark 4

Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

Dissolve baking soda in 2 teaspoons water. Add to the creamed mixture.

Sift together flour, salt, allspice, cinnamon. ground cloves and ground nutmeg.

Add to the creamed mixture. Mix until fully incorporated.

Add raisins and nuts; mix well.

Drop teaspoons full on greased baking sheets.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
