- Dissolve yeast in warm 110°-120° water, set aside to bloom, about 10 minutes.
1. In a large bowl, cream the cottage cheese.
2. Add sugar, onion, 1 tablespoon butter, egg and dried dill.
3. Cream until smooth.
4. Add the bloomed yeast.
5. Add the flour, about 1/2 cup at a time, beating with each addition.
6. Beat until well mixed and dough is stiff but not heavy.
7. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours.
8. Punch down and put dough in a bread pan, or arrange in a round shape, on a greased cookie sheet.
9. Let rise again, about an additional hour.
10. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes in a preheated 350°F oven.
11. The bread is done, when tapped on the bottom, it sounds hallow.
12. Remove from the oven and while still warm, brush the loaf with the remaining 1 tablespoon of soft butter.
13. Sprinkle with coarse salt and enjoy.
