- Lightly coat two 8 by 4 inch loaf pans with 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Lightly dust with 1 tablespoon flour. Set aside.
1. To make the dry mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the white flour, whole wheat flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda.
2. Stir the dates, walnuts and 1/2 cup rolled oats into dry ingredients.
3. Mix well to thoroughly coat the dates.
4. To make the wet mixture: In a separate medium bowl, whisk butter, canola oil, brown sugar, eggs, milk, dark molasses, coffee liqueur and vanilla.
5. Stir the dry mixture into wet mixture with wooden spoon until combined.
6. Evenly divide batter between the previously prepared loaf pans.
7. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup rolled oats over loaves.
8. Bake in the preheated 350°F oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center.
9. Let cool in the pans for 15 minutes.
10. Turn loaves out onto a decorative dish and serve warm, or transfer to a rack and cool completely before serving.
