Capers are the flower buds from the Caper Bush which are harvested and pickled in vinegar and salt brine. They have a tangy, sour, and peppery, mustard-like flavor.
The seed-like bud of a Mediterranean plant are pickled and used as a condiment or garnish.
Capers are delicious when added to preparations that need an added tanginess. They can be mixed into salads, stirred into pasta, chicken dishes, mashed potatoes, or placed into soups.
Try using them as a topping over pizza, blended into sauces, hummus, pesto and salad dressings, or incorporated into seafood dishes, potato salads, sushi rolls, and stir-fries.
When boiling rice, stir a little olive oil or cooking oil into the water. This simple hack prevents the grains from clumping and sticking together, making sure each grain of rice remains separate and fluffy. It's a small step but it makes a big difference.
