Bicarbonate of Soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate and baking soda. It's a leavening agent used in many baked goods, such as cookies, cakes and muffins.
You can store Bi-carb of soda, unopened, at room temperature for up to 18 months.
After opening, it will store at room temperature for about 6 months for the best quality.
To test if your bicarbonate of soda is still active, spoon some into a bowl, and add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar. If it starts to fizz immediately and vigorously, the bicarbonate of soda will still work well in your recipes.
Make your own ginger juice easily by using a garlic press. Just take a 1 x 2 inch piece of ginger root, squeeze it with the press, and quickly get about 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger juice. This hack is a quick way to add a burst of flavor to your drinks and dishes with minimal effort.
