In the top of a double boiler placed over gently boiling water, melt chocolate. Stir in butter until melted. Keep chocolate mixture warm over hot water.

Cut each almond lengthwise into several pieces. In a small skillet over low heat, combine almonds and sugar; stirring until lightly browned. Add to melted chocolate mixture.

Remove from heat and drop chocolate-almond mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until cooled and hardened.
