4 cups All-purpose flour
4 tablespoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Baking soda
3/4 cup Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Currants
1 cup Milk
1/2 pint Sour Cream
2 large Eggs

Grease and dust a 9" cake pan with flour.
Take all the dry ingredients and currants and mix together with your fingers.
Add milk, sour cream and eggs. Mix well with a spoon; batter should be sticky.
Pour batter into prepared cake pan and bang gently to even out. With a sharp knife, make an "X" across the center 1/2" deep.
Bake at 325°F for one hour or until brown.
