1 cup Shortening
2 cups Sugar
6 large Eggs
2 teaspoons Anise oil
6 cups All-purpose flour
5 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
2 cups chopped Walnuts

Combine shortening and sugar. Mix until smooth. Add eggs one at a time. Beat until smooth. Add anise oil.
Sift flour. Add baking powder, salt and nuts to flour. Gradually add this to wet mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Grease 3 loaf pans. Divide dough into 3 parts, with floured hands. Press each part evenly into loaf pans. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature.
Turn out onto a cutting board. Slice whole loaf. Place slices flat, onto a cookie-sheet. Bake in 350°F. oven for 6 minutes. Turn each piece to other side and bake 6 minutes more.
Delicious plain or buttered. Loaves may be stored whole in refrigerator or freezer until ready to slice and bake again.
