Yields 1 Portions


2 cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons Lard
5 tablespoons Ice water


Directions

Mix flour and salt. Cut in butter and lard with pastry blender or with 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.

Sprinkle the cold water over flour mixture and quickly beat in, using a fork. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap in wax paper.

Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Yes, indeed. I experimented with my family using lard in one recipe and shortening in the other. They seemed to enjoy the lard pastry more.

You can substitute Shortening for Lard, but in my opinion, using lard is like adding love, it just tastes better :)
